Global warming: Let’s be reasonable.

I will never understand Global Warming deniers. I mean, seriously?
You’re telling me that when 95% percent of the scientists in the world are absolutely sure about something, it’s a myth?
That is just plain stupid.
A couple of arguments that get thrown back at me are the following.

Argument 1:
There was once a time when half the world thought the earth was flat.

It’s disturbing to think that people ACTUALLY believe this is a reasonable argument.
Well, I don’t know how to address this.
I’m not gonna sit around and give you a history lesson.(as much as I’d love to)
I’m just gonna apply a simple theory to your simple theory.

If we applied that thinking on all of our issues, progress would be impossible.
Most scientific discoveries are based on theories. It’s not always all about facts.
But the point is that, history shows us, that when we have unlimited data that supports a theory. We assume that the theory is correct and move on to a solution. It’s not that difficult.
Imagine if in the past we’d have applied the same theory.
Smoking cigarettes was once a treatment encouraged by doctors to ease throat pain.
It took them a while, but with more information they realized just how wrong they were.

Global warming is something we can’t be wrong about.
It would be catastrophic.

Argument 2:

30,000 scientists have scientists have stated that Global Warming is a myth.

This is a reasonable argument.
But one that can easily be shot down.
10,102 of them hold degrees in ‘General Engineering and General Sciences.
I’m not sure they can be counted as ‘experts’ on the topic.
Plus, the 3,046 scientists who hold degrees in medicine.
While they remain essential to the community, they can hardly be called experts when it comes to this topic.

Secondly, they have been unable to provide evidence that has enough substance to actually pose a shift in the consensus on the issue.
The data has been interpreted ‘abrupt’ and absurd.

People. Please.
7 billion lives are at stake.
Don’t screw this up.

The Day We Egyptians Lost Our Moment

Inner Workings of My Mind

There is not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that we, the Egyptian people, have been outwitted.

There are very few moments in time that decide the course of history. They come every 50 years, once a century, or even furtherDSC02825 apart. Our generation’s Moment was January 25, 2011. A critical build-up of recent events amassed the emotions of an already seething Egyptian population and our Moment was born. Millions of Egyptians took to the streets for 18 days…blah blah blah… We all know the story. And we know the ugliness that followed.

Providence gave us a moment because we were able to unite as a people when it really mattered. We saw our chance and held onto it for a full 18 days. And that’s why the story ends there. If a Moment is to truly change the course of history, its people must hold onto it…
